Science in Society

Connecting society and science

On the way to establishing Luxembourg as a leading knowledge-based society, the FNR has set itself the objectives to anchor science in society and to foster societal impact.

Within these objectives, the FNR considers public engagement as an integral part of research and a joint responsibility of research institutions and funders. It also works closely together with the educational and associative sectors to support their initiatives to promote science in schools and among the public.

In order to anchor science in society, the FNR is:

  • Organising events that allow face-to-face exchange between scientists and society
  • Developing (social) media formats to reach broad and diverse audiences
  • Offering training in science communication and science education for researchers, science communicators, teachers and educators
  • Offering funding for public engagement and science education activities
