The FNR is pleased to communicate that following the pilot in 2023, the Ministry of the Economy will once again support the 2024 JUMP Calls with 300,000 EUR for six spin-off projects (50,000 EUR per project). The FNR’s JUMP programme provides competitive funding to public research institutions in Luxembourg in order to advance the development of applied research-driven and leading-edge technologies/concepts, products, and services that have the potential for enabling the creation of a start-up, licensing to an existing company or further funding in view of commercialisation.
The Ministry of the Economy (MECO) has as its mission to advance steps for an attractive economic framework for companies and to diversify the Luxembourg economy by developing innovation-driven strategies that allow key industries to further develop and the Luxembourg startup ecosystem to grow. Increasing the ecosystems’ capacity, knowledge, and know-how to turn a spin-off or start-up idea into a commercially promising venture within these sectors is one of the key objectives of the MECO, which is fully aligned with the aims of FNR JUMP projects.
This Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) addon support from MECO seeks to build a shared approach to facilitate and accelerate the translation of public research results and expertise into innovation with market potential that can support Luxembourg’s economic diversification strategy and strengthen the local start-up ecosystem. The FNR’s collaboration with MECO for Spin-off track will continue to happen in 2024 calls as well. During the pilot call in 2023 and in addition to FNR’s funding, MECO has agreed to add additional 300K EUR, for 6 spin-off track projects. In the year 2024, the collaboration will continue and will support another 6 new spin-off track projects during the FNR JUMP calls in 2024 , and each will get 50KEUR along with any possible eco-system support around.
