Celebrating 25 years of impact: FNR commemorates milestone with special stamp release

On 4 October 2024, POST Philately marked the 25th anniversary of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) by unveiling a commemorative stamp. This special occasion was celebrated with a presentation of a souvenir frame, handed over by Claude Balthasar, Chef de Service Patrimoine & POST Philately, to Didier Goossens, Head of Corporate Communication at FNR, and Joanna (Asia) Muz, Design & Creative Project Manager at FNR.

The stamp design, a tribute to Luxembourg’s vibrant research community, features a selection of striking images submitted by local researchers during the FNR’s Science Image Competition. Each carefully chosen image reflects the diverse domains of research and serves to inspire and engage the public. The featured images include:

  • Top Left: A piece of bone | Photo: Felix Kleine Borgmann, Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH)
  • Top Right: Imperfections in liquid crystals | Photo: Anjali Sharma, University of Luxembourg
  • Bottom Left: Hot spots in Luxembourg-City | Photo: Karolina Zięba-Kulawik, LISER
  • Bottom Right: Powder used for 3D-printing of ceramics | Photo: Anaïs Carpentier, LNS

The competition aims to bridge the gap between science and society, showcasing the passion and dedication that drive scientists and inviting the audience to explore the often-overlooked world of research.

In addition to the stamp, the “First Day Cover” prominently displays the 25th-anniversary logo alongside the FNR logo, further enhancing its significance.

For those interested in commemorating this milestone, the stamp is available for purchase on the POST website
